I've got good news....It's Friday!!! Yay!! O.K....I don't actually work outside of the home (but man do I work *inside* it...LOL) but Friday's are still fun! Now, I've got even better news! Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenges are back! Woohoo! You can see Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #29 HERE.
I had so much fun making this card!! I went "Old School" with this...no patterned paper...just good 'ole stamping!!! I have to tell you though, I think my sponges are still smokin'!! There is a LOT of sponging on this card!
I started with a piece of Sahara Sand c.s. and embossed the Bronc Buster image with Versamark ink and Clear e.p. on it. I then used my sponges and Blue Bayou, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, & Chocolate Chip ink pads to create this worn look. By having embossed the image with Clear e.p., it "resists" the color from sponging and the original c.s. color shows through. For the Blue Bayou background, I stamped the Sanded background stamp on it with Blue Bayou ink and then stamped the paisley (from the Wanted set) in Chocolate Chip ink. I then added some sponging in Blue Bayou ink in the center of the paisleys. I distressed all the edges and then sponged (of course :-) them in Chocolate Chip ink. I layered the stars (Lg & Sm star punches) and added a brad to the center of them.
I have to tell you about the "mesh". I noticed a while ago some Drywall tape in my husbands tool stuff and "borrowed" some...hehehehe! Drywall tape only comes in that slightly off-white color, and I wanted it darker. So, I took my dark brown Copic marker (the larger tip end) and colored it! Voilà! Custom dyed "Magic Mesh" for a fraction of the price.
Want to see more samples using Beate's sketch? Then be sure to check out the amazing samples that Beate, Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Lori, Mary Jo, & Sharon have made as well!
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!! Thanks so much for stopping by! ~Laurie
