Whooooo Loves You?
Gasp! It's Tuesday already!! We have been sooo busy here! My brother flew in from Portland last week to help pack my mom's house up. It's been wonderful to see him again (we don't get to see him nearly enough)...but it's also been an emotionally and physically draining time. We said our goodbyes to my mom today, which wasn't very easy to do. From the time I was pregnant with our first child (she's twelve now) she has lived near us. On the bright side, we will get to go and visit her in Portland two to three times a year! I LOVE Portland...actually I love the whole Northwest...and miss it terribly!
Some stamping "therapy" was just what I needed! Even though this was a super fast card to make, I love the results! (It might have something to do with me adoring Monochromatic cards...hehehee!)
This sweet owl is from C.C. Design's new set "A Hootin' Good Time", which is available from All That Scraps. **Note: The finished size of this card is 3 1/8" x 6 1/2"
Before I wrap this up...I have to share this funny story with you! We were sitting at the dinner table the other night, and my kids brought up Mother's Day. My DH rarely gets to town to do any shopping...so the kids were bugging him to take them in so they could look in some stores. I KNEW this was my opportunity, so I smiled very sweetly...and said, "Oh, don't worry about getting me something...I know exactly what I want and I can order it for you"! I then told them that I wanted the Copic Airbrush Kit! Up until now, my husband was only half way paying attention...and mostly interested in what was for dessert! LOL! Well, his eyes lit up and he said, "to Trick your Truck"? My husband and nine year old son love to watch the show Trick my Truck together. Jared (my nine year old) replies, "No, Dad...to Trick her Cards"!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Laurie, your card is adorable! I'm sorry that you had to say good bye to your Mom. I understand your mixed emotions. My Mom is a 4 day drive from me and though we talk several times a week, it's not the same having her close.
LOL @ your story! Kids are so cute!

I love this card. I love anything with birds on it actually, but I really love this card because of the emphasis on the one owl. What a great idea to pop him out like that. Great job!

I was holding my breath reading your post as I thought something terrible happened to your mom...boy, was I relieved to read she was moving, Whew!
Cute, cute card--never a disappointment from you, girl!

I Love the Card!!... but my heart stopped for a moment when I opened my e-mail and read (it only shows part of the message with a link to your page) "packed up my mom's house... said our goodbys..." I thought your mom had passed away... Oh my gosh... I couldn't get to your site fast enough to read the rest... I didn't heard anything about Laurie's mother passing away.... my dear heart...lol...lol I'm so happy to read the rest of the story....

Oh, Laurie, love your story! As a mother of four, I know kids can say the most honest and insightful things, but in the funniest way. I'm sure you've already thought of scrapbooking the story with your pictures of Mother's Day. Have a happy one.

Oh, I love your card AND the story! Aren't kids great??!! I love that mine are grown, but oh so many great times when they were still at home. So sorry you had to say goodbye to your Mom...but at least you can go visit! Thank you for being such an inspiration to all of us! :D

Well it's about time, young lady! I've certainly been missing your posts. Now I understand why. The owl card is adorable and I share your fascination with anything monochromatic. Your 9-year old nailed it with his keen response to Dad. I loved it!

I hope that you get the copic air brush for mother's day so you can trick your cards! I have to say that I can only imagine how wonderful they will look because you already do a great job and don't need to improve because it is hard to improve perfection! I guess I am trying to say you can do no wrong in my eyes.
I know what you mean by saying good bye to your mom. My mom lived with us for 8 years and last year at this time she moved back to Kanab Utah and I miss her more than I can say. I don't get down there as much as I want and that makes me sad.
Hope you have a great week!
TFS
