Hi friends! I'm so excited to be guest designing for this month's Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights Challenge! I have been a long time fan (and happy customer) of Ellen Hutson! She has fabulous products and just as amazing customer service!
The Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge is a monthly inspirational challenge based on a Pinterest Inspired photo that is located on the Ellen HutsonCLASSroom blog. There is a pretty amazing prize up for grabs! A random challenge participant who has used Essentials by Ellen products and the inspiration photo will win a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store!
Here is this month's inspirational photo...
Isn't this a fun image? There are so many different elements to be inspired by: colors, patterns, party theme, and shapes. In fact, I was so inspired that I created two cards! :-)
The first thing that really grabbed me about the photo was the bright, vibrant colors! For my first card, I focused completely on the colors. I embossed the balloons from the Essentials by Ellen Up the Happy stamp set using white embossing powder onto watercolor paper. I added some color to the balloons using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I really need to use these markers more! The colors are so concentrated and bold, not to mention being easy to blend!
After the balloons were dry, I die cut the balloons (using the coordinating Up the Happy Designer Dies). For the sentiment, I embossed it using black detail embossing powder, toward the bottom of my card...to somewhat anchor the balloons. Finally, to brighten up the plain kraft background a bit, I sponged on some white ink.
My next card was again inspired by amazing colors! Like my first card, I embossed the flowers (all of these flowers are from the Essentials by Ellen Bohemian Garden stamp set) using white embossing powder onto watercolor paper. Again, I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to quickly add color to the flowers. After they were dry, I die cut them out using the coordinating Bohemian Garden Designer Dies. After arranging the flowers into a layered bouquet of sorts, I added some Stardust Stickles to the flower centers. I added the die cut sentiment (Essentials by Ellen Brushstroke Wonderful Designer Die) along the bottom. I kept feeling like the card was missing something, so returning back to the inspiration photo I was drawn to all of the confetti. I decided to add a few scattered black dots around the flowers, using a Zig Fine Tip black marker.
Well, that's all from me today!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
