My first card was created using the new Fabulous Flowers stamp set, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger. I was SO excited when I first saw this set! I have long been a fan of Melanie's flowers but have been wanting a smaller floral set for a while. I think she read my mind! :-)
One of my favorite things to do is to create floral backgrounds, and these flowers are perfect for that! Here, I embossed the open line images using white embossing powder onto watetrcolor paper. I then quickly burshed on some color using watercolor paint. When I say quickly, I really mean it! I am smitten with the messy watercolor look, and I have found that it works better for me if I don't overthink it and just quickly paint.
For the bottom curved edge, I just cut that freehand. For the scallops, I used a scallop punch that I have had for ages and punched out a border. Because I wanted it to curve a little, I needed to trim the border quite a bit, so that there is actually only 1/8" underneath the bottom edge of the watercolor paper.
For the sentiment, I actually created a custom shad of blue by "mixing" two Gina K inks - Blue Denim and Powder Blue.
This next card is one that I shared at the release party last Thursday night. I, again, used Melanie's Fabulous Flowers set. This time, I created a spring bouquet by cluster stamping on a circle shape. I mounted it on some Sweet Corn Pure Luxury cardstock.
This next card features Theresa's new Framescape - Simply Spring set. I just love how Theresa packs so many different images into each of her sets! To me, that makes them so incredibly versatile! I was needing an easy to mail birthday card so I created this rainbow balloon card. I colored the balloons in bright, rainbow colors and offset them with black cardstock. For embellishment, I added coordinating sequins.
My final card is one that I shared at the release party. I started by embossing the largest tree image from the Framescape - Simply Spring set onto watercolor paper using white detail embossing powder. Using some of my favorite colors (they match the Gina K Blue Lagoon and Jellybean colors), I added a watercolor wash over the whole panel. The white embossing resists the paint, making the images remain easy to see. I then added a little sentiment flag using one of the sentiments included in the set.
