    "Just Give Me Goodies" Winners...

Sorry I'm late posting!  We had some friends come over for dinner tonight.  It was fun to visit...and fun for our kids (they have kids very similar in age to ours)!  I hope you all had a great weekend as well!  :-)

Without further babbling on my part (LOL!), the winners of the "Goodies" (according to random.org) are...

Tanja (winner of the goodies pictured below) wrote:

"What great tips everyone gave! Congratulations! I can't believe you've only been at this for a year, either! Yours was one of the first blogs I found when I discovered there was such a thing!
My tip is so ridiculously simple - Throw away as you go into a bowl like Rachael Ray's trash bowl. I don't know why - it just makes me feel more in control of my mess :)"

    and....

"I really love your blog and read it everyday. I especially enjoy your odd weather stories---except I still have no idea what state you live in that explains such odd weather. Where exactly do you live? Anyhow I would love to win these goodies. Stampin tip? Mmmnn I don't have anything to original. My only tip is to avoid wasting cardstock, always stamp on scrap paper first to see if the image leaves any marks or stamps evenly. Thats about it."

I have emailed both ladies...and am anxious to send them their goodies!

I want to thank ALL OF YOU for the awesome tips!!  If you haven't read some of them...please do!  I've learned quite a bit!  There is one that I just have to share with you!   I laughed so hard when I read it...because it is something that I do ALL the time!!    Coffeescreen  I am so challenged in this area!!  LOL!!!!

Diane Van Horn wrote:  "I'm so happy for you as you celebrate your anniversary. You never stop inspiring me on a daily basis. My favorite tip is: Alway remember to check where your fold is before you start adhering things. I'm not ashamed to admit that more times than I want to mention, I have assembled my card only to realize that it is upside down......Come on...you know you have done it too."

Diane, YES...I do that also!!  I have ruined more cards because of this!!  LOL!!  You must have know I needed this reminder!  Hee!

Again, thanks so much for the great tips!!

It's "Just Give Me Goodies" Time!!!

Happy Thursday!!  Wow!  I cannot believe it's been over a year since I first started this blog!  When I first began, I really was just going to post "once in a while"...and had serious doubts that anyone would even visit!!  LOL!  I have made so many wonderful friends...ones that I might never have "met" if it weren't for this "blogging world"!  As a way to say thank you to YOU, I've compiled some of my favorite stuff to give away!

I will draw two names.  The first will receive everything shown here!  There are stamps, bling (of course :-), over 15 yards of ribbon, Crate paper patterned paper, brads, K & Co. flowers, a couple of my favorite cards (including the FIRST card I made for the Dirty Dozen - 8 months ago)...oh and CHOCOLATE!!

     BlogCandy1

    BlogCandy2

The second name I draw will receive a $15 Gift Certificate from Stamper's Dream!!!  To be entered into the drawing, just leave a comment on this post (PLEASE only ONE comment per person).  If you want (this is not required), leave your favorite stamping tip!!  I'm sure everyone would benefit from it...I know I will!  :-)

I'll start...  My favorite "tip" has to do with cutting things out.  When I was nursing one of my kids (I think it was my now 9 year old son..so it was a while ago :-), I saw a Carol Duvall show and she shared this tip.  When cutting anything out (especially small intricate things), keep your hand with he scissors still..so you will be moving/turning the paper that you are cutting.  This gives much better control and produces a more finished result!  :-)

I will draw the names Sunday evening...enough time for those of you on Feedblitz (which can be up to two days later than I post :-) to see this!!  Thank you so much...all of you!!!

    Have a wonderful day!

    How About Some Free Stamps!!

Free stamps...it doesn't get much better than that, right?  :-)  More about that in a minute.  First, I wanted to share with you a quick little Mini card Gift set that I made!

    Scripture_notecard_set_2

I made two each of the three different 4 x 4 notecards.  I wanted them simple enough in design to be easily mass produced.

I then created a little box to hold both the cards and envelopes.

    Light_of_the_world_set_box

To make the box, I just modified the "2-5-7-10 box".  (Click on the link for detailed instructions...and my measurements are listed next).  I wanted the box to fit my 4 x 4 notecards.  I started with a 6" x 12" piece of double sided patterned paper (all patterned paper is from K & Co).  I scored at the following intervals:  1 1/2", 5 3/4", 7 1/4", & 11 1/4".  I then turned my c.s. vertically and scored at 1 1/2".  The rest of the box is assembled the same way as the instructions on SCS (again...click on the link above).

    Scripture_notecard_set_card1_edited

I used a different verse (all are from the Light of the World set from Our Daily Bread Designs) on each of the cards below.

For the mini notecards, I used a 4" square textured Very Vanilla c.s. base.  On the blue cards, I added a couple of Dew Drops.

    Light_of_the_world_set_card2_edited

I added ribbon and some piercings to the Rose colored cards.

    Light_of_the_world_set_card3

On the Moss green cards, I added some Vanilla taffeta ribbon (it looks white in the picture...but it is Ivory), a rounded corner, and a small rhinestone.

All of the cards have some subtle shading around all the edges.  **Note - I've received a lot of emails asking how I sponge my cards.  I will share some tips with you in the next couple of days!

Now...on to the FREE STAMPS!!!  :-)  Kelley (owner of Our Daily Bread Designs) has graciously donated one Light of the World stamp set for me to give away!!  Wooohoo!

    Setimage2413x540

There are five stamps included in this set.  To be entered into this drawing, just leave a comment on this post!

**Optional:  you can also tell me, in your comment, what you do to get out of stamping "ruts".  I'm sure we all have experienced this (I know I have...OFTEN) and I would love to read your ideas!!

I will pick the winner (using Random.org) on Wednesday morning!  Please...only one comment per person.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!  I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!  ~Laurie

    We Have A Winner...

First, I want to let you all know how much I enjoyed reading your responses!  Yes, I did read them...ALL 523 of them!!  LOL!  I have a list of desserts that I want to try.  Not sure if I will do them all on Thanksgiving or not (heheheee), but I am going to try them!  Thanks so much for taking the time to share your favorite dessert, recipes, & even your funny skunk stories!!  We always have an American Apple Pie and a Swiss Apple Pie (it's quite a bit different than ours here in the U.S.).  I would LOVE to have a Pumpkin Pie, but my DH does not like them (not even a little bit...LOL) and I don't want to have a whole pie to have to devour and then later feel guilty about.  I'll let you know what we end up having!

On to the winner!!!!  Random.org chose post #76!

Congratulations Britiney!  Here's what she wrote:

"Congrats on hitting such a milestone!! I LOVE your blog, so it comes as no surprise to me. I can't wait for the next 200,000!!! I think as a favorite, I'd have to pick the old standby pumpkin pie. However, I've been tempted today to try THIS: http://smittenkitchen.com/2007/11/nutmeg-maple-cream-pie/
I'll let you know how it turns out!!

Thanks for sharing your amazing talent and inspiration with us. I look forward to your creations every day. "

Britiney, I will try to follow the link to your site and email you...but in case that doesn't work, please email me with your address!  There is a "email me" link just below my picture.

Thanks again, everyone for the sweet, sweet comments!!!  Have a great day!  ~Laurie

It's "Just Give Me the Goodies" Time!

Happy Sunday!!  It's so hard for me to believe, but my counter has passed the 200,000 mark!  Wow!!!  I think this definitely calls for some GOODIES to be given away!!!!  Multistars

It's been a crazy couple of weeks here in our household...but I'm so happy that it will be returning to "normal" very soon!  My DH has been in hunting camp for almost 3 weeks straight....but he's coming home TOMORROW!!!  I couldn't be happier!!!  Of course, while he was gone...every crazy thing imaginable has happened!!!  Remember the "SKUNK" thing I mentioned a couple of posts ago?  Well, my daughter was going to the garage to get something from one of our freezers, but instead slammed the door shut and let out a blood curdling scream!!!!  It turns out that a skunk had snuck into our garage while we went to get our mail (our mailbox is 6 miles away) and we didn't think we needed to close our garage for that short time.  The funny thing about that is that when we got back, I drove right back into the garage, got the kids out and went inside.  I'm SOOOOOO thankful we didn't get sprayed!!!  Well, I had no idea what to do!!  I ended up going around outside, opening the garage door a little (in hopes that he would sneak out again) and quickly ran back inside.  Thankfully, a couple of days later he did leave (but he made sure we had a HUGE mess to clean up when he was gone!!!!) and I was able to get my car out again.  He's been back almost everyday now...waiting by the garage door!  LOL!  He must have told his friends, because there are more under our porch now!  Oh, how I'm going to be happy to see my DH!!!  LOL!!!  So, needless to say my house does NOT smell very good right now!  Anyway...on to the GOODIES!!!!!!!!!!

    200000_blog_candy_2

Here's what's included:  A  paint can of gorgeous Primas, several yards of snowflake ribbon, a roll of Christmas ribbon (from Micheal's), a  Scallop circle punch, and a Accents & Elements tin (Borders & Blossoms)!!!

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post!  If you'd like, please tell me your favorite dessert that you make for Thanksgiving!!  Please, only one post per person!  I will draw a name on Tuesday morning using Random.org.

Thank you SOOO much for visiting my site and your wonderful comments & emails!!  This has been just so much fun for me...and I'm grateful for the new friends I've met along the way!!!  THANK YOU!!!!!

I will be back in the morning with something new to show you (I actually stamped again)!!!  ~Laurie
