Good Morning! I'm writing this post from our laptop (I'm out of town for a couple of days), so my apologies for the short post (I really can't type on this thing).
Here is the card I made for Beate's Weekend Sketch #20! You can see the sketch on her site, Fresh & Fun. It's a fun sketch...and I hope you all get a chance to play! Also check out what Charmaine, Jenn, Lori, & Sharon made for this sketch...they will surely inspire you!
Because I've "turned over a new leaf" (LOL!), I'm going to start off by actually telling you the size of the card! Hehehe! I started with a 5 1/4" Square Chocolate Chip card base. Next, I layered some Bashful Blue and Chatterbox Courtyard DP for the "base" of my card. For the partially hidden layer, I stamped the Many Thanks (from the Fancy Florals set by Verve Visual) using Sky Blue Brilliance ink to create a shimmery monochromatic background. I loved the softness of the blue on blue, but I also wanted my sentiment to be noticeable, so I stamped it once in Coffee Bean (also a Brilliance pad).
For the focal image, I stamped the large flower (also from the Fancy Florals set by Verve Visual) in Sky Blue on Shimmery White c.s. I layered the center part of the flower and "turned" up the edges a bit for some added dimension. For the bottom layer part of the sketch, I used a piece of Vellum c.s. I wanted to follow the sketch (it's a fun one!), but I also didn't want to cover up all of the gorgeous DP...so that's how I settled on the Vellum c.s. It may be hard to tell from the picture, but in real life the vellum just adds to the understated "shimmery-ness" of the card! Below the main flower, I stamped one of the smallest flowers from the set three times (again...blue on blue) and added a brad in the center. I am really loving this set! There are 28 stamps (yes...28!!!) that all coordinate and fit together perfectly! I have a couple more cards that I did with this set that I will share this weekend (hint: one is Christmas card!).
Have a wonderful, blessed day!! ~Laurie
ETA: I've received a lot of questions about how I tied the ribbon on my last Christmas card. I have added that information to the post! Sorry about not including it originally!
