Happy Saturday! When I first read what Lynda (this month's OCC hostess) had come up with for today's challenge, I was definitely stumped! Hmmm...no square or rectangle cards. I've done circle and oval cards (and I do love them)...but I wanted to try and make something that I haven't made before. I finally decided that a cupcake card would not only be fun to make...but be perfect for a friend's upcoming birthday!!
After I had the base of the cupcake card done, I thought I would search to see if there were any patterns on-line that I could use for the top. Well, I found the perfect one!! Linsey posted one on her blog Outside the Lines...complete with darling samples!! I printed her template out, traced it on some Pink Pirouette Prints DP, cut it out, and added it to my already finished base! (Thanks so much Linsey, for providing such a wonderful template!!)
I chose this wonderful stamp that quotes Dr. Seuss (from Verve Stamps Beautiful You set) to be the focal point of my card. Speaking of the Beautiful You set....it's part of the October Double Feature (you get both the Beautiful You set and the Cupcake Affair set at a special price). For embellishments, I added some buttons, twill, ribbon, & stitching.
Well...are you up for the challenge of making a "non square or rectangle" card? You can check out all the details of the challenge over at the Our Creative Corner blog (as well as see all of the amazingly creative cards the OCC girls have come up with)!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Thanks for stopping by! ~Laurie
