So, you know how I was talking on Friday (ok...maybe a little bit whining) about how we won't see Spring here for quite a while yet? Well, I was pleasantly mistaken!! Yesterday the temp hit 60 degrees...and I'm sure I saw some green grass trying to poke through!! I could hardly believe my eyes!! And then today we got the most wonderful thunder storm...with RAIN!! We usually only get to see the white stuff when it storms this time of year...so this was a treat!! It is supposed to snow more next week, but now that I have a "taste" of what could be...well, let's just say that I'm going to have to really try not to be impatient! :-)
When I saw the sketch Amber came up with for this week's Viva la Verve challenge, I knew that I had to play! What a FUN sketch!! If you are not familiar with the Viva la Verve challenges, head on over to the Verve Forum at Splitcoast and you can read about all the details (*hint...there's a prize involved :-). Every week there is a "twist" to the sketch...usually meaning some side challenge to be combined with the sketch. This week's twist is to go "clean and simple". So, if you know me even a little bit...then you know that clean and simple (CAS) isn't really my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong...I adore the style...and there are some stampers out there that can take my breath away with their CAS style...but it always looks wrong when I do it. Well, is my card clean and simple? Probably not by most standards....but in contrast to what I normally do, I think this should qualify. :-)
I went with a monochromatic card, using Soft Sky and Ocean Tides paired with Kraft. I softened the Ocean Tides and Kraft c.s. by sponging the edges with some White craft ink. The beautiful butterfly and simply fabulous sentiment is from Verve's new Beautiful Kindness set.
Well, I am going to be busy getting my tax info all ready (yeah, I know...we're cutting it kind of close...), but hopefully I will be finished in a day or two!
