Today is "Sneak Peek" Day 2 for Taylored Expressions! The set that we are showing peeks of today is called Boys Will Be Boys! I don't have very many "masculine" stamp sets so I was especially excited to see this one! My first card uses the tie images from the set. My DH does not have many ties (cowboys usually don't LOL!), but my Father-in-Law does...so I created this card for his upcoming birthday. I stamped the ties (I stamped the image twice to create a longer line of ties) onto Choice Buttercream c.s. and then colored them in with my Copic markers. The Little Man patterned paper (by Cosmo Cricket and the Tawny Medium Prism paper (as well as the Buttercream Choice c.s.) are all from The Father's Day Key Ingredients package. Just wait until you see all the fun papers and embellishments that Taylor has put together this month...it's probably my favorite kit so far!! I kept the design fairly simple...resisting every normal instinct to add "stuff" (you know, like bows, sparkle, rhinestones, & such). Instead of adding another layer under the patterned paper, I decided to add texture instead. I used my new Cutter Bee paper piercer and my Scor-Pal (it didn't pierce all the way through, but instead created embossed dashes) around the edge of the patterned paper as well as along the thin Buttercream strip. To finish it off, I added two Pewter brads. How funny is that remote in the tool belt!!??!! My DH is not much of a t.v. watcher, but when he is watching the few shows he does like (Survivor Man, Myth Busters) he holds on to that remote SO tightly!! LOL! The patterned paper, Tawny Medium Prism c.s., Choice Butercream c.s., Screw brads (these are SO cool!!), & Red Twill are ALL from the Father's Day Key Ingredients Kit! The metal "paper" (if you can call it that LOL!), which I embossed with my Cuttlebug, is just one of the many extras you receive when you purchase the Father's Day Bundle (you can read more about that on Taylor's blog)!
See the hammer and other tools? I added some Silver Smooch to them! I was struggling with not being able to add anything "pretty" to my cards...so I couldn't resist adding some subtle shine! It's shiny enough to ease that "sparkly" craving...but manly enough to blend in on my card! I also snuck in a tiny bit of sparkle on the tool handles (using my Sakura Stardust Pen)...I couldn't help myself!! You don't think he will notcie, do you? :-)
