Home Again...

Hi!  We arrived home from Seattle this past weekend.  We are still waiting for all the test results from Ali's Hospital stay (they are trying to determine if she is a candidate for epilepsy surgery).  There is a team of doctors that meet every week to discuss unique cases just like Alison's.  It's kind of amazing really, all that they can accomplish.  In fact, Alison's neurosurgeon's dad (also a neurosurgeoun) pioneered the very epilepsy surgery they are discussing!  Anyway, I don't have any updates to share but I do have some photos from our trip!  :-)

We left a little early and stopped in Portland before driving up to Seattle.  My mom, brother, and sister-in-law all live there and I thought a little "fun" might be just the ticket for Ali.  Just before we arrived in Portland, we stopped at Multnomah Falls to take in the view and stretch our legs a bit.  I remember visiting these falls many times as a child and it was great to share this with Alison.

I didn't have my "real" camera with me...just a small point and shoot so my photos aren't as good as I would have liked.  In fact, the one below added a very weird color cast over Ali and I...not sure why.

I can't even tell you how much I miss all of the GREEN!!!  Montana does get green...a little anyway, but it only lasts a couple of months at most.  Growing up in the Northwest has completely spoiled me! 

I love this photo of Ali.  In spite of all the pretty crappy stuff she's going through she can light up a room (or a forest :-) with her smile!

How CRAZY are these blue trees??  LOL!  We stumbled upon these in downtown Seattle.  Ali thought they were the coolest thing!  I'm still trying to decide...

Scattered among the blue trees were these bronze and silver (ish) statues!

Here's another photo I took right off of the waterfront.  Not pictured...the YUMMIEST ice cream!  Mmmm!

And this photo was just for fun!  I LOVE me a big ferris wheel!  :-)  This one wasn't open yet, but it was still pretty to look at!

Soft & Romantic Glitz Design Cards...

 

One of my most favorite things about Glitz papers is the elegant yet vintage designs!  They lend themselves so well to many different kinds of designs, especially soft & romantic!

For my first card, I used three different patterns of paper (all form the French Kiss line).  I used a Whatnot for the focal image and an epoxy sticker for the sentiment.  I embellished it with flowers, ribbon, buttons, and another epoxy sticker!

Here's a close-up photo of the vintage looking epoxy sticker I used for embellishment (from the French Kiss line).

For my second card, I used papers and a Layered Sticker from the Pretty in Pink line.  I chose papers with more of a neutral look and added in some pink in my embellishments.

Celebrate Good Times...

Hi ya!  My birthday card stash has dwindled down to next to nothing so I thought I would start working on birthday cards whenever I get a free moment.  :-)

I haven't inked up my Verve Birthday Bash set in while, so I brought it out and showed it a little love.  :-)  I paired the Birthday Bash set with the new What's Up line from Basic Grey.  Admittedly, my card is pretty simple, but I wasn't in the mood to color so I let my patterned paper do all the work for me!  Teeheee!

Hi...

Heeeellllooooooo (said in my best Seinfeld voice)!  Today's card is something that I've had partially done for quite a while...but just never got around to finishing it.  While I was cleaning off my desk the other day, I saw this colored image and decided it really needed to be turned into a card.

I mixed a couple of My Mind's Eye papers to create a simple patterned backdrop for this fun, whimsical image (A Penny Black stamp).  I used some of my chipboard alphabet letters to spell the simple "Hi" sentiment.  To finish it off, I added some Stardust Stickles to the water.  To me, a card is not complete until is has some sort of sparkle on it!  :-)

Congrats...

Hi friends!  Today is my packing day (as well as a million loads of laundry) and all of the last minute stuff I need to do before leaving.  Tomorrow, Ali and I will be on our way to Seattle (well, we are stopping over in Portland for a short visit with my family).  I'm not sure when we will be back, but have a couple of cards that I have ready to post while I'm gone.  I'm afraid it will be pretty quiet around here though...

I would be so grateful if you would keep our family in your prayers.  My biggest hope is that they will be able to fix Ali's seizures without major complications.  They really are causing a lot of problems for her, the hardest one being MAJOR headaches.  Like the kind of headaches that leaves her on the couch shivering in pain.  She is on two different kinds of anti seizure medicine and although they are not as frequent, she is still having them.  Anyway, we are hoping for some relief and good news.

On a much lighter note, how about a soft and pretty baby card?

I used the new Pip Squeaks set from Paper Smooches to create this pink and grily card.  I just adore Kim's fun sentiments...they are so unique!  For a little extra sumpin' sumpin', I added some pink glitter to the baby's blanket.  I do love me some glitter!  :-)
