Today, we are celebrating 2011. There were so many favorites to choose from, because I think Papertrey has just gotten better each year. The set that really stood out to me was the Year of Flowers Collection set.
There is no doubt about it, Papertrey has some seriously gorgeous flower sets! I normally reach for the bolder style, but the delicate beauty of these flowers drew me in. I was anxious to color these beauties in using my Zig Clean Brush Markers.
I started by embossing three of the flowers all over a piece of watercolor paper. For this one, I chose to use the Arches Cold Press paper mostly because the finer texture of this paper would help ensure the delicate lines of these images would show up well. I then added the color and then spread it around using a water brush. So easy!
I did my best to stay away from pink, as that is what I always tend to reach for when coloring in flowers! Ha! I thought I would change it up a little and experiment with some new to me colors.
For the sentiment, I used the newer Thick & Thin: Thanks die set. I started by die cutting the larger, shadow die from the center of my watercolor background. I then adhered the thin thanks (that I die cut using True Black cardstock) to the larger shadow piece. I wanted this to stand out a bit more, so I popped up the sentiment using foam adhesive dots.
Because I didn't want the purple showing through where I die cut the sentiment, I mounted a piece of white cardstock underneath. I then adhered it to a Amethyst Allure cardstock base.
