Happy Friday! It's my turn to share some tips for this week's Papertrey Ink Design Team Tips. I'm sure a lot of you already know this about me (mostly because I say it every year Ha!), but I love Fall! It is hands down my favorite season. One of my favorite things about it is the warm and cozy colors. I love to wear them, decorate with them, and create with them. Sometimes, though, I find myself wanting to shake things up a bit.
I have noticed that some of the most popular Christmas color combos are in the same family but just different hues. For example the classic colors of red, green, and dark blue can be lightened to get the more fun combo of pink, light green, and Aqua. I thought that it would be fun to try this same thing for my favorite Fall colors.
For my first card I chose to lighten a couple of greens and aqua (as apposed to a richer dark teal) ending up with Aqua Mist, Mint Julep, and Ocean Tides. And because I think gold is always relevant, I added some Antique Gold embossing powder and gold sequins.
I started by die cutting the Bold Borders: Foliage die from watercolor paper. I added some color using Mint Julep, Aqua Mist, and Ocean Tides ink refills mixed with water.
When the ink was dry, I splattered on some gold watercolor paint.
I added some gourds from the Simply Gourd-eous stamp set for the focal image. The sentiment is from the Words to Live By: Grateful stamp and die set.
My next card features a lighter version of one of my favorite fall color combos: Autumn Rose, Honey Nut, Tropical Teal, and Kraft. The lighter colors that I used are: Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold, and Soft Stone.
I did add some ink shading of some of the darker hues for extra depth.
For the focal image, I stamped and die cut the large corn image from the Kind of Corny stamp and die set. I adhered the corn onto an ink blended Sweet Blush decorative die cut (cut from the Delicate Details die set).
I framed the focal image a white frame, die cut using the Pierced Feature Frames die set.
To tie in the gold (because I just cannot imagine any Fall color combo without it), I added some Egyptian Gold embossing powder to the bottom of the Delicate Details die cut.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
Laurie
