Throwback Thursday - Wishes Come True

Happy Thursday! Today I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink's Throwback Thursday feature. This week we are sharing cards created using the the Wishes Come True stamp set!

Candles are such an iconic symbol of birthdays and celebrations! The Wishes Come True set is full of candles with different patterns and quite a few fun sentiments as well! I think my favorite thing about this set is that it would work well for any gender or age, making it so versatile!

I started by lightly ink sponging some Aqua Mist ink onto the white background layer. I then stamped the large sun burst image from the Corner Adorner: November several times using Aqua Mist ink. To tie in the black cardstock, I splattered on some black ink.

I stamped the candles using a brighter version of rainbow colors. I also added some glitter to the candle flames because...well, who doesn't love glitter? :-) For embellishment I added several white sequins.

Transformation Tuesday - Together Forever

Hey friends, happy Tuesday! Today I'm hosting this week's Transformation Tuesday challenge over at the Papertrey Ink blog! In this challenge, we take our own creations and change them up to create a brand new one!

For today's card, I wanted to revisit an old technique. I shared this original card for one of the Make It Monday videos that I hosted (click on photo above to be taken to the original post). I decided to change up the colors and stamps but kept the technique and basic layout the same.

To change things up a bit more, I used Kraft for the Cover Plate: Hearts die.

After adhering the vellum to the back of the die cut cover plate I colored in some of the hearts (on the back side of the vellum) using Copic Markers that matched Raspberry Fizz and Pure Poppy. I then added superfine glitter to each of the colored in hearts.

For the focal image, I layered on a heart die cut, a cluster of stamped and die cut flowers (from Gran's Garden set), and a sentiment from the Banner Style stamp set.

Design Team Tips - Text & Images Background

Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing a background building technique that is easy to do but adds so much to a card! Layering images over a text background is definitely a favorite way of mine to create backgrounds.

I created a card using this technique on one of the cards I created for this month's release using the new Vintage Type background stamp.

I created a soft, Spring filled thank you card featuring the Butterfly Blooms and A Bit More Butterfly Blooms stamp sets. I combined so many of my favorite things on this card: pinks, soft colors, hearts, lovely script sentiments, and hearts!

Here you can see the stamp layering on the background layer. The flowers are from the Butterfly Blooms set and the butterfly is from the A Bit More Butterfly Blooms stamp set.

Here you can better see the gold embossed butterfly and the gold splattered paint.

I always start by stamping the text or sentiment first. I like to stamp them using lighter colors. This ensures that you still get the added depth and texture without distracting too much from the focal image.

After the sentiment I stamped the flowers and leaves, making sure to stamp them so the text and images overlap.

For even more depth, I splattered on some gold paint onto the background. Both the sentiment that I used for the background as well as the focal image are from the You Made My Day stamp set.

Papertrey Ink January Release - Day 5

Welcome back to the fifth and final day of the Papertrey Ink January release countdown posts! A brand new year and brand new stamps and dies...yay!

Today we are featuring: Circle of Love stamp set, Vintage Type stamp set, and Together Forever Blooms stamp set. All of the new products being showcased today will be available January 15th at 10 pm ET.

The new Circle of Love stamp set combines to of my favorite things about Papertrey stamps - gorgeous florals and beautiful frames!

I used only the outline floral/frame image and embossed it in white on vellum cardstock. Using Copic markers, I colored on the back of the vellum. I embossed the sentiment using gold detail embossing powder.

For the background, I embossed the new Vintage Type background stamp onto watercolor paper. I then added a light butter yellow wash over the embossed background. To tie in the gold from the sentiment, I splattered some gold paint onto the background.

I layered the background onto a Scallop Stackers: Medium die cut. To help it stand out a bit more, I lightly brushed the scallop edges with gold ink.

My next card features more of the Circle of Love and Vintage Type stamp sets. I used a couple of the smaller images in the Circle of Love set to create a custom patterned background.

I stamped the leaf sprig image multiple times and then colored them in with Copic markers. Next I stamped the hearts using Pure Poppy ink. Finally, I stamped the Vintage Type stamp using Soft Stone ink.

For the focal image, I embossed the Congrats sentiment using white embossing powder onto True Black cardstock. To tie in the Soft Stone ink from the background, I added a small strip of Soft Stone cardstock.

For my final card, I again used the floral frame image from the Circle of Love stamp set. This time, I also stamped the bold images to add color to the flowers and leaves. I love that these are included in the set! While these flowers would be super easy to color in using a variety of mediums, having the bold images to stamp makes it so much faster if you would want to mass produce these.

To add a bit of extra dimension, I stamped, colored, and fussy cut a few of the larger flowers.

I stamped the Vintage Type stamp onto Kraft cardstock and layered it behind the focal image. For the background, I added a piece of Bitty Big: True Black patterned paper.

Papertrey Ink January Release - Day 4

Welcome back to day four of the Papertrey Ink January release countdown posts! A brand new year and brand new stamps and dies...yay! For several days we will be sharing projects created with fun and unique new stamps and dies! :-)

Today we are featuring: Potbellies: Unicorn die set, Potbellies: Everyday Sentiments stamp set, and Words to Live By: Smile stamp set. All of the new products being showcased today will be available January 15th at 10 pm ET.

Gah! A unicorn Potbellies die!! Betsy is a genius!! I mean, how incredibly fun is this? And the fact that it can easily be a horse is perfect for me (my five year old's favorite thing to do is ride horses with dad)!

I kept my colors soft and girlie and used one of the Large Clear Bubbles to create a shaker. The sentiment is from the new Words to Live By: Smile stamp set (and coordinating die).
