Happy Wednesday friends! It's time for another Ink to Paper Favorites Challenge! This challenge is a fun and easy way to win a $25 Ink to Paper gift certificate! Check out the Ink to Paper Blog for all the details and to link up your project.
Vellum is such a versatile medium that has long been a favorite of mine! It can be used as a background layer to soften patterns, a sentiment strip, or as focal images like I have done with my card. One of my favorite ways to use vellum is to emboss an intricate stamp and color it in. It seems to add instant elegance to almost any design! This week we are challenging you to share with us your favorite way to use vellum!
Don't you just love it when a card turns out exactly like you pictured it? I honestly LOVE the look of these watercolored vellum leaves! I might just have to put these on ALL the cards! Ha! Seriously, I hope you all give these a try...they are SO fun to create!
I started by die cutting three of the Lovely Leaves from Vellum cardstock. The heavier weight vellum is really important for this particular technique. I then embossed the detail leaf images using the coordinating Lovely Leaves stamp set. Using my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors I added color to the embossed leaves. Usually when using markers, I color on the back side of the vellum. This time, I really wanted the bolder look so I colored on the top. :-) I think what I like best about this look is that the colors didn't really blend together before drying (vellum is definitely not a porous paper).
I wanted a neutral background, so I chose a piece of Bitty Big: Soft Stone patterned paper, Soft Stone cardstock, and a white die cut leaf border (from the On The Border: Fall For Foliage die set).
Okay, I just realized that I used a few of the same products on last week's Favorites challenge card! Well, can you blame me? They are AWESOME products! :-)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
